After Real Madrid’s dramatic Champions League exit at FC Bayern, the anger in Spain is mainly directed at referee Slavko Vincic. The red card against Eduardo Camavinga is causing massive discussion – and fierce accusations
The decisive scene took place when the score was 3:2 in favour of the Whites. Camavinga was shown a yellow card: first for a comparatively harmless foul on Harry Kane, then for holding onto the ball. A decision that not only caused consternation on the pitch
The Frenchman had already received a yellow card
The incident made waves in Spain, with MARCA running the headline: „What an injustice!“
The criticism from AS was even harsher, with talk of a „despicable referee“ who had „ruined“ the game. The yellow-red card was „scandalous“ and not worthy of a game at this level

There was also clear criticism from refereeing circles, with former Spanish referee Alfonso Pérez Burrull making a particularly drastic statement on Radio MARCA: „It is completely disproportionate to send off a player for such an action.“
He went even further: „It borders on abuse of power.“ In a match of such enormous importance, a referee must act more sensitively and consider the consequences of his decisions
One thing is indisputable: the card had a massive impact on the course of the match. Bayern managed to turn the game around and win 4:3 in superior numbers, thus securing their place in the semi-finals, where Paris Saint-Germain now await
Another scene after the final whistle added fuel to the fire: Real’s Arda Güler was also shown the red card after making a very forceful comment towards the referee
Vincic’s decision is likely to remain a talking point for days after the game, and while Bayern are already focusing on the semi-finals, the role of the referee continues to be debated in Spain
One thing is clear: this match will not only be remembered for the seven goals – but also for a decision that could have significantly influenced the outcome.
