Régis Le Bris says Sunderland have raised concerns over how Brian Brobbey is handled by referees, while accepting officials face a difficult task, according to Sunderland Echo.

The debate flared again in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Manchester United, when home fans and players bristled at calls that went against the 24-year-old. In the second half, Stuart Attwell awarded United a foul as Brobbey and Luke Shaw grappled in the penalty area.

Le Bris argued Brobbey's physical profile can leave him on the wrong end of decisions and said there are moments when he needs a little protection. Citing duels with Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez, he stopped short of criticising Attwell and felt the contest was refereed fairly overall.

Dermot Gallagher said, "I think Stuart's right there, I think, foul by Brobbey," speaking on Sky Sports’ Ref Watch.

Jay Bothroyd said: "I think that was a wrong decision, I think Brobbey should have been given the benefit of the doubt."
