Sunderland return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon, with Régis Le Bris weighing big calls as they face Roberto De Zerbi’s Spurs at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland Echo notes that the injury picture has improved over the break, giving the head coach welcome selection dilemmas for the run-in.
Goalkeeper Robin Roefs is fit to return from a hamstring issue. Melker Ellborg has deputised well, yet it would be a major surprise if Roefs did not come straight back into the side.
Nordi Mukiele was back on the bench for the Tyne-Wear derby after a cautious approach. He is fit to start and is very hard to leave out. It could be harsh on Geertruida if Mukiele returns at right back, though the Frenchman might also shift inside.
With Dan Ballard still sidelined by a hamstring problem, there is a strong case to persist with Luke O'Nien after his excellent second half at Newcastle. Another option is to move Mukiele into centre back.
Omar Alderete has rebounded from a slight dip around the turn of the year with outstanding recent displays. He has been central to important results during a difficult period for Sunderland.
