Tijjani Reijnders says being part of City’s FIFA Club World Cup squad has served as the ideal way for him to quickly integrate into Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Reijnders was one of four signings made by City in the early June transfer window which opened specially ahead of the Club World Cup.

Along with Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Marcus Bettenelli, the Dutch midfielder has helped bring even more quality and depth to Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The 26-year-old produced a superb display on his competitive debut for City in last week’s 2-0 Club World Cup opening Group G win against Wydad AC of Morocco.

Reijnders is part of the City squad now gearing up ahead of our final and decisive group clash against Juventus at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida on Thursday.

If City win the game we will seal top spot in the group but a draw or loss will instead mean we progress as runners-up.

As he looked ahead to the game, the Dutch midfielder spoke about how being together with his new team-mates day in, day out in the United States had helped immediately blend into Guardiola’s squad.

And he said City were determined to finish the group stages in style by overcoming Juve and winning Group G.

“The first few weeks have been very good. I got a good welcome in the squad. Everybody's helping me when I need it and I have a good feeling,” the Dutch international said.

“Being out here together in America has made it easier because directly I am there 24/7 with the guys. So yeah, we'll get to know the boys better.

“When you start the tournament with the pool stage, you always want to end on top and that's our goal as well.

“For tomorrow we want to win the game and finish first in the group. And from there on we will see what will be facing the rest of the tournament.

“It’s a big prize so now we are really excited for tomorrow and for the next round.

“And yeah, we are here with one goal and this winning this tournament.”

City have made a fine start to the tournament winning two games our of two so far with Reijnders impressing in last week’s opening 2-0 win against Wydad.

But he believes there is much more to come from the side the deeper City go into the Club World Cup.

“We expect a lot from ourselves and that's what we want to now show in the next games,” Reijnders added.

“On a personal level, of course, it was a special moment to make my debut for Manchester City and I was happy that that it went well.

“I want to show even more of course, but I was happy with this start.

“We had two pretty good games, but we know we can give more..

“And yeah, that's on us now, especially against Juventus.

“It’s a bigger team with all the respect to the other two. But now we have to show what qualities we have and also you also have to grow in a tournament.”
