Tijjani Reijnders spoke to MilanTV after AC Milan’s defeat against Torino and was visibly disappointed with the outcome. As he stated, the Rossoneri must eliminate the individual errors from their game to improve.

Against Dinamo Zagreb, Matteo Gabbia’s slip and Yunus Musah’s red card were decisive. In the first leg against Feyenoord, Mike Maignan’s howler was decisive. In the second leg, Theo Hernandez’s red card was decisive. And yesterday, another howler from Maignan and a penalty miss from Christian Pulisic were decisive.

In short, Milan have themselves to blame for the poor results lately and speaking to MilanTV last night, Reijnders highlighted this issue. The game against Bologna on Thursday will be decisive for the Champions League race, and the Rossoneri must show their quality.

On the result…

“How we started the game and how we conceded the second goal… Those are things that cannot happen if you want to play for top four. We really have to improve in both defence and attack, because if we keep going like this, we’ll make life very difficult for ourselves.

“We have to keep going because we still have chances of finishing in the top four. We have the quality in the team and it’s on us to show that.”

Are there mentality issues?

“I don’t know if it’s mentality issues per se, because everybody is ready for the game. It’s the small mistakes we commit which make the games difficult.”

On the Bologna clash…

“We can jump up the standings with that game and we have to be ready. We have to analyse what we can do better and head into that game with confidence.”

Reijnders scored Milan’s only goal against Bologna with a great left-footed strike, but even he could have performed better. As we highlighted in our player ratings, he missed a pretty big chance before the goal and also struggled a bit with the passing.
