Fox came off in the 22nd minute of Arsenal’s 2-0 FA Cup win, and was replaced by January signing Smilla Holmberg.

Slegers has addressed whether Fox is likely to feature in Arsenal’s League Cup semi-final clash with Manchester United on Wednesday.

Emily Fox likely to miss Manchester United clash

United States international Emily Fox is likely to be unavailable for Arsenal when they face Manchester United tomorrow night.

Sleegers will be hopeful that Fox will be back in action for Arsenal’s crucial Women’s Super League clash with Chelsea this weekend.

She said: “We assessed her yesterday and today, and we just want to make really good decisions with Foxy.

“It’s looking likely she won’t be in the squad tomorrow, and then we will assess her again tomorrow and the day after. That’s where we’re at now with Foxy.”

Fox has been an ever-present figure in the Arsenal team this season, featuring in all 12 of their WSL clashes.

Her absence will likely present a chance for new signing Holmberg to start against the Red Devils.

Arsenal injury news

Slegers also provided updates on Leah Williamson and goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar.

Van Domselaar has not featured since Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Real Madrid on November 19th, while Williamson was unavailable for the Gunners’ victory over Aston Villa.

Slegers said: “Daphne will be in the squad tomorrow, Leah is not in that place yet but she is progressing really well. We’ll see (for Chelsea), I think that will come too soon as well but we’ll see how she progresses.”

Arsenal’s busy fixture list

Arsenal have a busy run of fixtures, which also includes Chelsea in the WSL and their participation in the Women’s Champions Cup.

Slegers said: “It’s exciting. We’ve just played in the FA Cup, going into the League Cup tomorrow, after that it’s WSL and after that we’ll play in the Champions Cup so it’s different competitions all coming after each other and it’s very exciting.

“We are very aware that in this block we can win our first trophy in the Champions Cup so we’re taking steps closer to trophies and it’s driving us, the players are aware of it but tomorrow it’s the League Cup and we really look forward to the game against United.”
