As summer approaches, Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman looks increasingly likely to move on from Bergamo, with reports from TUTTOMERCATO suggesting the Nigerian international may be on his way back to the Premier League—or potentially bound for Serie A rivals Juventus.

Manchester United and Newcastle United have been named as leading suitors for Lookman, who previously had spells at Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City. His time in Italy has rejuvenated his reputation, and it appears English clubs have taken notice.
According to TUTTOMERCATO, “Ademola Lookman seems to be getting closer and closer to leaving Atalanta,” with both Manchester United and Newcastle showing interest. Juventus, meanwhile, “continues to remain on the sidelines to understand how the situation will develop.”
The backdrop to Lookman’s possible departure is not purely tactical or financial. Tensions reportedly flared following the match against Club Brugge, though the article notes that the issue has since been smoothed over. Atalanta president Antonio Percassi reportedly addressed the squad, urging unity with the club’s sole focus now being “on the pitch and the next challenge, which is against Venezia.”
This suggests internal politics and dressing-room harmony are also playing a part in transfer deliberations—a factor not uncommon in Serie A’s emotionally charged football culture.
One of the key challenges for any club seeking to land Lookman will be the fee. TUTTOMERCATO reports that Atalanta are demanding around €60 million (£51.5m), though “it is not excluded that there may be a slight reduction.” A permanent transfer would be preferred, but “a temporary deal with an obligation to buy” is also on the table.
Juventus are reportedly monitoring this closely, considering how to match the financial demands. For Premier League clubs, this fee—though sizeable—would not be out of the question for a proven top-flight performer with versatility and end product.
With Atalanta locked in a late-season run-in, the player’s future is unlikely to be decided until the end of the campaign. “Once the season is over, Lookman will decide his future,” writes TUTTOMERCATO. “Everything will also depend on the offers that arrive in the offices of Zingonia [Atalanta’s training centre].”
Ademola Lookman’s resurgence at Atalanta has not gone unnoticed, and this summer feels like a pivotal crossroads. From a fan’s perspective, seeing Lookman linked with clubs like Manchester United and Newcastle is both logical and exciting. His ability to play across the front line, particularly on the left cutting inside, makes him a modern, dynamic option.
The €60 million price tag may seem steep at first glance, but for a player entering his prime and performing in one of Europe’s most tactical leagues, it’s a fair starting point. For Manchester United, who continue to search for consistency in wide areas, Lookman offers both immediate impact and long-term value. Newcastle, too, would benefit from his direct style and attacking drive, particularly as they prepare for another European campaign.
Juventus’ interest also makes sense—Lookman has Serie A experience and has adapted well to the league’s demands. But financial constraints and Atalanta’s preference for a permanent deal may tip the scales in favour of English clubs.
Wherever he ends up, Lookman’s next move will be one of the more intriguing transfers of the summer window.
