AC Milan forward Rafael Leao has long been on Barcelona’s radar, and recent reports from SPORT indicate that he would be thrilled to wear the famous Blaugrana shirt next season.
Leao’s name has been a consistent mention at Barça, with the Portuguese winger gaining admiration for his pace, skill, and versatility on the left flank.
Barcelona see him as a player with the potential to make a significant difference, and President Joan Laporta holds a particular fondness for him.
Laporta dreams of signing a major talent when the revamped Camp Nou is ready, and securing Leao could be the bold statement the club is looking for.
Although Leao has been a target for some time, he has never quite been at the top of Barcelona’s transfer list. However, this could change in the coming summer, with the club’s financial situation expected to improve.

The Portuguese recently extended his contract with Milan until 2028, with a hefty release clause of €175 million.
Clearly, Barcelona would not consider paying such an amount, but Milan might be willing to negotiate for a fee closer to €80-90 million, which is far more realistic.
At this moment, Barcelona does not have the financial capacity to meet that price, but they are confident that their financial fair play situation will be better next year, enabling them to make a move for the player.
Leao, on his part, has been calm about the rumours and focused on his current situation at Milan. However, recent tensions with Milan’s coach, Paulo Fonseca, have led to speculation that Leao might be open to a new challenge, which has only heightened Barcelona’s interest.
Furthermore, the role of Jorge Mendes, Leao’s agent, is also crucial. Mendes has a strong relationship with Barcelona, and this connection could play a significant part if the club decides to pursue Leao next summer.
