Xabi Alonso has got most of what he has asked of the Real Madrid board this summer as he began planning a new project for Los Blancos.
While all of his defensive requirements were met, even the midfield was made stronger by the arrival of Franco Mastantuono.
One department that the administration did not strengthen despite his requirement, however, was the defensive midfield and the manager has made good use of Aurelien Tchouameni’s profile to fit his requirement.
Yet, given the option, Alonso would prefer more depth for the pivot position, ideally with someone who provides more value in terms of ball-playing and the buildup. Florentino Perez and Co., needless to say, have been monitoring profiles.
As relayed by AS in a recent update, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton has emerged as a surprising player on Real Madrid’s radar as a potential defensive midfield recruitment, although his signing will be anything but easy.

The player is valued at a whopping €80 million, a fee that Los Blancos straight out refuse to pay unless they make a big departure happen in the coming weeks. Further, they are not alone in the pursuit of the youngster.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool have also shown interest in the player and are monitoring his situation.
Needless to say, they will not hesitate to pay out the massive fee given the Premier League’s overall inflated market this summer.
At just 21 years of age, Wharton established himself as a reliable option in Crystal Palace’s midfield last season and racked up 20 appearances and 16 starts in that duration.
He also created five big chances and averaged 1.3 key passes per game in addition to making over seven defensive actions and five ball recoveries per game.
