Report – Another Treble Hero To Join Cristian Chivu’s Coaching Staff At Inter Milan | OneFootball

Legendary former Nerazzurri defender Walter Samuel will join the coaching staff of Cristian Chivu at Inter Milan next season.

This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They report that Giovanni Martusciello will not be part of Chivu’s backroom staff as expected, and that Samuel will take his place.

Inter Milan are set to officially appoint Cristian Chivu as coach today.

The 44-year-old will replace Simone Inzaghi on the Nerazzurri bench.

And as part of Chivu’s appointment, there will also be a shakeup in terms of the backroom staff at Inter.

There is one notable name staying. Reportedly, goalkeeping coach Gianluca Spinelli will remain at the Nerazzurri.

However, much of Inzaghi’s own staff have gone with him. Therefore, Inter will appoint replacements to work alongside Chivu starting next season.

Walter Samuel To Join Cristian Chivu Coaching Staff At Inter Milan

Reports had indicated that coach Giovanni Martusciello would return to Inter Milan as an assistant to Chivu.

Martusciello had been the assistant to Luciano Spalletti in his two seasons at Inter.

Meanwhile, the 53-year-old has also assisted Maurizio Sarri at Juventus and Lazio. Furthermore, he has been the head coach of both Empoli and Salernitana.

However, reports FCIN, a bureaucratic issue has prevented Martusciello from joining Chivu’s coaching staff.

In his place, the outlet anticipate, will be former Inter defender Walter Samuel.

The Argentine spent nine years as an Inter Player, between 2005 and 2014. He had previously played for the likes of Boca Juniors, Roma, and Real Madrid.

Samuel and Chivu know each other very well from their time together as players at Inter. They won the Treble with the Nerazzurri in the 2009-10 season.

Meanwhile, Walter Samuel has also been part of the coaching staff for Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni.

And the 47-year-old will reunite with Chivu on the Inter bench.
