Report – Barcelona forward doubtful for final La Liga clash against Valencia | OneFootball

Barcelona could be without Ferran Torres for their final La Liga match of the season against Valencia after the forward suffered a muscle issue before the clash against Real Betis.

According to reports from MARCA, the Spanish attacker remains doubtful for the trip to Valencia after being forced to withdraw from Barcelona’s most recent fixture against Real Betis at the last moment.

The situation came as an unexpected setback for Hansi Flick, especially because Ferran had been expected to play an important role in the attacking setup during the closing weeks of the campaign.

What happened to Ferran?

Before the Betis game, Barcelona confirmed that the forward had been experiencing discomfort in his left hamstring. 

Medical examinations later revealed that the issue was a muscle strain, ruling him out of the final home match of the season at Spotify Camp Nou.

With Ferran unavailable, Flick opted to start an attacking trio consisting of Fermin Lopez, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski against Betis.

Although the injury is not believed to be serious, Barcelona’s medical staff are taking a cautious approach with the player. 

Ferran is not known for suffering frequent injuries, which is another reason the club do not want to risk worsening the problem before the summer.

Notably, according to the outlet, the forward is expected to be part of Spain’s squad for the upcoming World Cup.

Barcelona unwilling to take risks

At this stage of the season, Barcelona appear more focused on protecting the Spaniard physically rather than rushing him back for one final league appearance.

The former Manchester City attacker has enjoyed an important campaign and remains in contention for the Zarra Trophy, awarded to the highest-scoring Spanish player in La Liga.

However, both the player and the club agree that avoiding unnecessary risks is the smartest decision. 

Muscle injuries late in the campaign can easily become more serious if handled carelessly, especially with international football approaching quickly.

This is why his participation against Valencia will depend entirely on how his body reacts over the next few days.
