Chelsea face competition from German giants Bayern Munich in the race for Rennes centre back Jeremy Jacquet.
Despite public pleas from former head coach Enzo Maresca to sign a new centre back last summer after Levi Colwill suffered an ACL injury the Blues didn’t act.
However, it’s been reported Chelsea are now looking to sign a centre back this month, with a number of names reportedly on their radar.
Chelsea have Jacobo Ramon and Jacquet on their radar, and have reportedly also held conversations over a move for Bournemouth Marcos Senesi.
It’s believed the Blues will only act if the right player is available, but it appears Jacquet is one of their primary targets having been linked with the youngster before.

Jacquet is attracting interest from a number of top clubs.
However, the Blues face competition for the France under-21 international, and L’Equipe have reported Bayern Munich are interested, and are amongst the most interested parties.
The report adds Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested, but Rennes don’t want to do a deal this month, and are looking to get a similar fee they got for Jeremy Dokue, which was around €66m.
Jacquet is under contract until 2029 and has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season as he continues to enhance his reputation.
Whilst the Blues are looking to sign a centre back this month, they are also looking to find a new club for Axel Disasi.

Disasi hasn’t featured for the first team this season after he was banished to the “bomb” squad, although he has turned out for the development side.
The Frenchman is said to be attracting interest from the likes of Roma, Lyon and Paris FC, but as of yet no offers have been received for the defender, with Chelsea said to prefer a permanent departure.
