The Spain international arrived at Chelsea from Brighton in the summer of 2022, in a deal worth up to a reported £62m.
Cucurella has two years left on his contract, and whilst he signed improved terms last year, his deal wasn’t extended.
Cucurella has spoken out against the Chelsea project, but remains an important part of the team, and a player you’d imagine new manager Xabi Alonso would want to keep.
The Spaniard, like many of his team-mates hasn’t been at his best this season, but losing him would be a major blow.
Cucurella has made no secret of being open to a return to Barcelona, where he came through the ranks, but there appears to be another Spanish side interested.
Spanish publication Marca have reported Atletico Madrid have made Cucurella their primary target in defence this summer.
The report adds the fact Alonso holds Cucurella in high regard could make any potential move difficult, and the 27-year-old would be a significant investment for Diego Simeone’s side.
Cucurella has scored one goal and registered four assists in 49 appearances in all competitions this season, and it’ll be interesting to see if Chelsea offer him a new deal this summer.

Jamie Carragher believes Xabi Alonso is a fantastic appointment for Chelsea, and could help keep some of their top players without Champions League football.
