Chelsea travel to Brighton in the Premier League on Friday night and could be without as many as six players according to reports.

The Blues return to the south coast having been dumped out of the FA Cup by the Seagulls on Saturday, and are in desperate need of the three points.

Enzo Maresca’s men remain fourth, but the race for the Champions League is fiercely contested, whilst their only chance of silverware is now the Conference League.

Chelsea could miss six players for trip to Brighton

Chelsea are in a difficult run of form and have won just two of their last eight league matches following a brilliant start to the season.

Maresca made five changes to the side which beat West Ham for the FA Cup tie, and it’s likely he will shuffle his pack once again.

London World have reported that Chelsea could be without as many as six players in what would be a huge blow for Maresca.

Chelsea are hoping Nicolas Jackson will be fit, whilst Marc Guiu is set for a spell on the sidelines, with many fans not wanting to see Christopher Nkunku play as a number nine again.

Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia are long term absentees, whilst Omari Kellyman is still injured, with Mykahilo Mudryk suspended following a positive doping test.

Reece James also missed the cup tie, but Maresca explained afterwards it was a planned absence, so he should feature on Friday night.

There’s no doubt the Blues are missing a number of these players, but they still have a good enough team to put out and pick up results.

It’s concerning how there’s been a collective drop off from the start of the season and Maresca needs to find a way of getting more out of these players.

Hopefully the return of one or two on Friday night will hand the Blues the boost they need to get their season back on track.
