Chelsea striker Marc Guiu has turned down a move to the Championship despite interest from several clubs according to reports.

Guiu joined Chelsea last summer after the club activated the €6m release clause in his contract, with the Blues taking advantage of an opportunity in the market.

The 19-year-old featured sparingly in his first season and made just three Premier League appearances, although he scored six goals in seven Conference League games.

Marc Guiu turned down move to the Championship

With the arrival of both Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, Guiu has dropped further down the pecking order, and his chance of minutes at Chelsea is now slim.

The youngster is currently part of the Club World Cup squad, but has played just 39 minutes at the tournament so far.

However, EFL Analysis have reported Guiu has turned down a move to the English second tier, with Middlesbrough and Blackburn said to be the other clubs.

The report adds Guiu doesn’t view a move to the Championship as beneficial to his development and will likely move back to Spain.

Nicolas Jackson could be on his way out

Guiu might not be the only striker heading for the Stamford Bridge exit door, and speculation has continued to swirl in regard to Nicolas Jackson’s future.

Jackson has been linked with with AC Milan, but it’s understood the asking price will be to high for Italian clubs, whilst there’s also interest from Premier League clubs.

It’s been reported Chelsea view Jackson as a potential £100m striker, and aren’t actively looking to sell the Senegal international.

However, it could be a situation to keep an eye on, and it will be interesting to see how Jackson responds to having genuine competition for his place for the first time in his Chelsea career.
