An update from El Chiringuito TV has revealed that tensions are rising over the possible venue for the upcoming La Liga clash between Barcelona and Valencia.

It is known that the likely scenario is for the game to be held at Barcelona’s Johan Cruyff Stadium, but the decision is already creating friction among several First Division teams.

For now, La Liga is considering allowing the match to go ahead at the Johan Cruyff with only 6,000 spectators, far below the usual minimum of 15,000.

This exception could spark protests, as reported by El Chiringuito. Contributor Jota Jordi warned that “several teams would ask to challenge the match if Barça play at the Johan Cruyff.”

Alfredo Duro added that Getafe, Barcelona’s next opponent, might also contest their game if it is played at the academy stadium.

Force majeure or unfair advantage?

Barcelona would likely defend the decision as a “cause of force majeure,” citing extraordinary circumstances. However, some rivals in the top flight may not accept this reasoning.

According to the aforementioned source, the situation for Barça differs from newly promoted teams that have received temporary allowances to remodel their stadiums, suggesting that the exception could be seen as preferential treatment.

Meanwhile, Valencia have not yet commented on the matter, but the fact of the matter remains that Barcelona will announce the final verdict by today.

La Liga’s approval would be required, and if any team challenges the arrangement, the case would go to the Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation.

With several clubs already signalling potential opposition, the venue choice could become a major talking point in La Liga this week.
