DaveOCKOP have revealed that Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is now “open to the idea of Alexander Isak leaving” following a tense standoff with the Swedish striker. Isak, 25, has made it clear he will “never pull on the black-and-white shirt again if forced to stay beyond this window,” after a series of disputes over the club’s transfer shortcomings.

The situation escalated when Isak skipped Newcastle’s pre-season Asia tour, officially citing a thigh problem, but instead flew to Spain for training at former club Real Sociedad. He has since vacated his Newcastle home, with the property listed for rent.
DaveOCKOP reported earlier this month that Isak would “push for a move away more aggressively” if no progress was made – and the forward has now refused to play in friendlies and is on strike ahead of Newcastle’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa.
Isak’s frustrations appear rooted in Newcastle’s inability to land adequate replacements. “The 25-year-old feels like his career should not be negatively affected because Newcastle can’t get their targets through the door.” Their pursuit of Benjamin Šeško failed when the striker chose Manchester United despite a bigger Magpies offer, while Porto’s Samu Aghehowa remains out of reach at £80 million.
While Liverpool are well-stocked in attack, Isak’s pace, movement, and finishing could be a perfect fit for Arne Slot’s system. If the situation continues to deteriorate, the Reds could see value in a player proven in the Premier League and still in his prime years.
From a Liverpool supporter’s perspective, the Isak situation is intriguing. He is a player with technical quality, speed over the first few yards, and the versatility to play across the front line. His 21 goals last season for Newcastle showcased not just his finishing but his link-up play, attributes that would suit Liverpool’s fluid forward system.
Liverpool’s recruitment team have a history of moving quickly when opportunities arise. If Newcastle’s stance softens and the asking price becomes realistic, Isak could become a reality.
For now, this feels like a situation to monitor closely. The combination of player unrest, Newcastle’s recruitment difficulties, and Liverpool’s willingness to adapt in the market could make this a transfer story worth revisiting before deadline day.
