Paris Saint-Germain’s search for a new striker is beginning to take shape, with Ferran Torres emerging as the club’s leading target.

The Barcelona forward, who inspired Spain to World Cup glory by scoring the winning goal in the final against Argentina, is eager to make the move to the French champions after enjoying the best domestic season of his career.

Indeed, according to Santi Aouna on Footmercato, Ferran has already informed those closest to him of his desire to join PSG.

He has also shared his intentions with several teammates in Barcelona’s dressing room, and the Catalan club are now understood to be willing to listen to offers.

Luis Enrique the driving force

Ferran is highly regarded by Luis Enrique, who values the Spaniard’s versatility across the frontline.

Although he has frequently played as a centre-forward in recent seasons, Ferran developed primarily as a winger during his time at Valencia’s academy and throughout Spain’s youth national teams.

His ability to operate anywhere across the attack makes him an attractive option for the European champions led by the former Barcelona and Spain head coach.

The 26-year-old arrives on the back of his most productive league campaign, scoring 16 goals and providing two assists in 33 La Liga appearances, while also cementing his reputation on the international stage with a decisive World Cup-winning goal.

Another Barcelona-to-Paris transfer?

Should the move be completed, Ferran would become the second player to swap Barcelona for Paris in the space of six months, following the arrival of promising youngster Dro Fernandez.

He would also follow the path taken by Ousmane Dembele, who made the same move three years ago and has since become one of PSG’s key attacking players. Neymar is also another high-profile transfer that took place between the two clubs.
