The 2025-26 season has just started, but FC Barcelona are already dealing with physical problems for some of their important players. First, it was Robert Lewandowski who missed a game due to such problems, and now, the fullback Alejandro Balde also seems to be suffering from an injury.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Balde suffered a minor hamstring injury in his left leg during Wednesday’s training session. Barcelona later confirmed the issue in an official statement, noting that his recovery will determine when he can return.

Current estimates suggest an absence of three to four weeks. If that timeline holds, Balde is expected to miss several important fixtures following the international break: Valencia on September 14, the Champions League opener against Newcastle United on September 18, and La Liga matches against Getafe (September 21) and Real Oviedo (September 24).

The €60 million-rated academy graduate could return against Real Sociedad on September 28 or in the high-profile clash with Paris Saint-Germain on October 1. The player himself is targeting the PSG match, though Barça’s medical staff will take a cautious approach given his recent history of hamstring problems.

This is not the first setback for Balde in this area. Last April, he suffered an injury to the same muscle that sidelined him for a month and ruled him out of the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid and the Champions League semifinal against Inter Milan.

Crucially, this is not a recurrence of the more serious injury he sustained in January 2024, which required surgery on his right hamstring and kept him out for the remainder of that campaign.

In Balde’s absence, youngster Jofre Torrents could gain more importance in Hansi Flick’s squad, although Gerard Martin remains the main alternative at left-back for now.
