Inter Milan and AC Milan are both keeping close tabs on the situation of defender Mario Gila, whose contract talks with Lazio have stalled.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Defender Mario Gila is currently in his fourth season as a Lazio player.

The Spaniard joined the Biancocelesti from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. He signed on a five-year contract.

Therefore, Gila’s current contract with Lazio runs out at the end of June 2027. And Lazio have been working to try and extend his deal.

Gila has emerged as a key player at Gila since his arrival. Therefore, the Biancocelesti want to keep hold of him – or else cash in while they still can.

According to Tuttosport, though, Lazio’s contract extension negotiations with Gila and his representatives have never really taken off.

Several months have gone by without any progress. This amid Lazio’s tough financial situation, which is no secret.

Therefore, reports Tuttosport, Gila could leave the Italian capital next summer.

Should Lazio not find a way to convince Gila to sign a new deal, then next summer would represent their last major opportunity to sell him and not lose him on a free transfer.

According to Tuttosport, two of the biggest clubs in Serie A are keeping tabs on Gila’s situation.

The newspaper anticipate that Inter see Gila as a potential defensive reinforcement.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri’s city rivals AC Milan are also keen on Gila’s signature. Particularly since the arrival of former Lazio Sporting Director Igli Tare.
