Gianluigi Donnarumma could make a shock return to Serie A, yet not to join former club AC Milan but Inter.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 20-time Italian champions would only make contact in the summer.
Donnarumma has become homesick after three years at Paris Saint-Germain.
Indeed, he’s reportedly keen to return to Italy at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Les Parisiens could grant his wish as they don’t want to lose him on a free transfer.
His contract expires in 2026, meaning PSG must sell him this summer.
Otherwise, they’d accept the risk of letting him leave on a Bosman deal.
Yann Sommer remains Simone Inzaghi’s first choice between the sticks.
Despite Josep Martinez’s arrival from Genoa last summer, the Swiss veteran has been indispensable.
However, he’s 36, forcing Inter to scour the market for a long-term replacement.
Donnarumma ticks all the boxes.
Indeed, he’s familiar with the Italian culture and remains one of the world’s most highly rated shot-stoppers.
Perhaps the only downside is his past ties with Milan.
But if he’s willing to swap allegiances, Inter probably wouldn’t mind offering him an escape route from Paris.
