Serie A pacesetters Inter Milan have reportedly joined the race to sign outgoing Manchester United superstar Casemiro.
According to Globo Esporte via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri have emerged as the latest team to register an interest in the 34-year-old.
Casemiro will be out of contract in June. Furthermore, he has already informed Man Utd of his decision to find a new challenge.
Therefore, he will be available on a free transfer, which must be music to Beppe Marotta’s ears.
Indeed, the Inter chief has become famous for snapping up high-profile players on Bosman deals.
However, Inter will face stiff competition for the Brazilian midfielder’s services.
Inter could wave goodbye to several midfielders in the summer.
In addition to Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Davide Frattesi, Hakan Calhanoglu could also depart San Siro at the end of the season.
As such, Marotta is in the market for midfield reinforcements, with Casemiro’s situation recently catching his attention.
Still, the former Real Madrid man has attracted interest from the United States and Saudi Arabia.
Though the Nerazzurri cannot compete with the financial power on offer from those markets, they could convince Casemiro to join by giving him a chance to play at the highest level.
