Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has been the subject of intense transfer speculation recently.

It has long seemed clear that the Nigerian would leave the Gewiss Arena this summer.

And over the last few days, Inter Milan have emerged as the clear frontrunners to sign Lookman.

But in the meantime, some potentially discouraging news has emerged regarding Lookman.

The 27-year-old returned to training yesterday. And he has suffered a calf injury.

Clearly, the injury has caused some doubts regarding Lookman’s future.

It is far from obvious how the muscle problem could affect talks between Inter and Atalanta for the Nigerian international.

However, a key factor could be the timeline for Lookman to recover from this setback.

A bit of time and some medical tests will be necessarily to reveal the recovery timeline more clearly.

But the initial feeling, reports Matteo Moretto, is that it could take a few weeks for Lookman to recover from this calf injury.
