Our View

As a Liverpool supporter, I am genuinely unsure on this one. Ezri Konsa is a very good Premier League defender and there is obvious appeal in signing someone proven, calm and capable of stepping into big matches without a bedding-in period. If Liverpool want reliability, this move makes sense on paper.

At the same time, “£60m asking price” feels steep. Konsa is 28, so this would be a deal about immediate impact rather than long-term upside. That is fine if the coaching staff see him as a major starter, but less convincing if he is being considered as depth across the back line. Liverpool need smart spending, especially when there may be other areas of the squad requiring attention.

There is also the Arsenal angle. If he would be “interested” in that move, Liverpool would need to be certain the player sees Anfield as the right destination and not merely an alternative. Supporters will want commitment and clarity, not a prolonged transfer saga.

My feeling is that Konsa would improve the squad, but only at the right price and with a defined role. If Villa hold firm, Liverpool may be better exploring younger options with a higher ceiling. If the fee drops, this becomes much more tempting.
