Liverpool Transfer Latest: Mika Godts Emerges as PSG Target Amid Ajax £51m Stance

Liverpool have been presented with a live transfer opening after Ajax winger Mika Godts emerged as a serious target for Paris Saint-Germain, with TeamTalk reporting that the Reds, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been updated on the situation.

This is how modern transfer markets work. One club pushes, others are alerted, agents circle, and suddenly a deal that looked straightforward becomes a race. In this case, the player is 21, productive, versatile and expensive. That usually gets everybody’s attention.

Godts enjoyed a standout season in Amsterdam, producing 32 goal contributions in a difficult campaign for Ajax. That output explains why TeamTalk says Premier League clubs have kept contact with his camp, and why PSG are now moving with intent after missing out on other attacking targets.

According to the report, PSG have already held “positive discussions” over a move for Godts. The French champions are still pressing ahead in the market and believe the Belgian attacker can fit into Luis Enrique’s longer-term plans. The article adds that Godts “is understood to be open to the prospect of moving to the French capital”, even with heavy competition for places.

That matters. If the player is receptive, the selling club’s resistance becomes the next major obstacle. It does not guarantee a move, but it changes the temperature very quickly.

Liverpool’s interest also makes sense on a basic squad-building level. Wide attackers with end product are expensive, younger ones even more so, and clubs at the top end have to decide whether to move before the price climbs again. TeamTalk states that “Liverpool and Tottenham’s searches for additional wide options have been well documented throughout the transfer window.”

Ajax stance on Godts price is clear

Ajax are not pretending otherwise. They know they have a premium asset and they are pricing him accordingly. TeamTalk reports the Dutch side value Godts at around €60 million, which converts to roughly £51 million. For a 21-year-old with one breakthrough season, that is a serious number, though hardly shocking in this market.

Jordi Cruyff was direct about Ajax’s position. “Ultimately, players like Godts will leave, but only at the right time and for the right price,” he said. He then made the club’s preference even clearer, adding: “We want to keep him in Amsterdam for at least another year. He is not for sale and otherwise very difficult to buy.”

That is firm language, but it is also standard negotiating language. Clubs say a player is not for sale right up until the point a bid becomes too good to ignore.

Liverpool, PSG and Premier League pressure

The key line in TeamTalk’s report is that Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham “have all been informed of the latest developments”. That means this is not random background noise. It means the market around Godts is active, and clubs are being invited to decide whether they want in.

PSG may still lead, Ajax may still resist, and Liverpool may simply monitor rather than move. Even so, once a £51 million valuation is set and multiple elite clubs are briefed, the situation can shift very quickly before deadline day.

Our View

From a Liverpool fan’s perspective, this is the kind of report that immediately sparks interest, and a bit of caution. Godts sounds like the right profile on paper, young, productive, technically sharp and already used to the pressure of playing for a giant club with expectations. Those are positives. The problem is that paper signings are easy, real signings are harder.

If Ajax want £51 million, Liverpool need to be absolutely certain. One big season in the Eredivisie is encouraging, but it is not conclusive proof. We have all seen talented attackers look brilliant in one league and then need time, or simply fail, in another. That does not mean he is the wrong target, it means recruitment has to be ruthless and clear-eyed.

The PSG angle is interesting too. If they are serious and the player is open to the move, Liverpool would need a very strong sporting case to change his mind. Minutes matter, role matters, and project matters. Under Andoni Iraola, Liverpool need attackers who can press, stretch play and contribute decisively. If Godts fits that, move. If he is simply another name on a long shortlist, step away.

What supporters will like is that this does not sound like an invented link from nowhere. There is a price, there is a selling club stance, there are multiple suitors and there is a clear elite-level push from PSG. That makes it real enough to watch closely. Whether Liverpool act is the part that matters.
