Liverpool’s pursuit of Yan Diomande appears to have taken another significant step forward, with reports suggesting the club has already reached an agreement on personal terms with the highly rated RB Leipzig forward.
According to reporting from Media Foot, the groundwork between player and club has now been completed, leaving Liverpool’s hierarchy with the task of negotiating a transfer fee that satisfies Leipzig’s demands.
The Merseyside club’s interest in Diomande has been one of the defining stories of the summer window, and developments over the past week suggest Liverpool remain determined to secure one of European football’s most exciting young talents.
Media Foot claims that discussions between Liverpool and the player’s representatives have progressed positively.
The report states:
“Liverpool/Diomande agreement!”
“After a first round of observation and discussions, Liverpool and PSG are set. According to our sources, an agreement exists between the English club and the Diomande clan. All that remains is for the directors to convince Leipzig for the amount of the transfer.”
That final hurdle remains substantial.
Leipzig have already rejected Liverpool’s opening proposal, which was reportedly worth around €100 million, consisting of approximately €90 million guaranteed plus a further €10 million in achievable add ons.
The Bundesliga club are understood to value Diomande significantly higher and are believed to be seeking a package closer to €120 million before entering serious negotiations.

Liverpool’s willingness to submit such a sizeable offer demonstrates how highly Diomande is regarded internally.
The arrival of Andoni Iraola as Liverpool’s new head coach has increased speculation regarding attacking reinforcements, particularly following a disappointing 2025/26 campaign that ultimately led to Arne Slot’s departure.
At just 19 years old, Diomande represents both an immediate impact signing and a long term investment. Liverpool’s recruitment model has frequently focused on securing elite young talent before their value rises even further, and Diomande certainly fits that profile.
Reports indicate the player could earn around £180,000 per week should a move be completed.
Diomande’s reputation has only grown during the 2026 World Cup.
Representing Ivory Coast, the teenager delivered a man of the match performance during his country’s opening victory over Ecuador and followed that with an assist in a narrow 2-1 defeat against Germany.
Those displays have strengthened the belief that he possesses the temperament and quality required to thrive at the highest level.
Liverpool’s confidence in pursuing a deal of this magnitude also suggests they have received positive encouragement from the player’s camp throughout the process.
Reports elsewhere have suggested Liverpool are preparing an improved offer worth around €115 million.
Such a proposal would move significantly closer to Leipzig’s valuation, although it remains unclear whether that figure would be enough to secure an agreement.
For now, supporters will await confirmation from more established transfer sources. Yet personal terms being agreed would represent a major milestone if verified.
As Media Foot put it:
“All that remains is for the directors to convince Leipzig for the amount of the transfer.”
That may sound straightforward, but convincing Leipzig to part with one of world football’s brightest young prospects could prove the toughest part of the deal.
Liverpool supporters will understandably be excited by this latest update. If there is genuine substance behind the claims that personal terms have already been agreed, it suggests the player sees his future at Anfield and is prepared to back Liverpool’s project under Andoni Iraola.
Diomande has rapidly become one of the most talked about young attackers in world football. His World Cup performances have only increased the hype, and it is easy to see why Liverpool are pushing so hard. Pace, directness, creativity and the ability to influence big matches are qualities that every elite side needs.
The timing of this pursuit also feels important. Following the departure of Mohamed Salah and the disappointment of last season, Liverpool need statements of intent. Supporters want to see the club aggressively targeting elite talent rather than settling for secondary options.
Of course, the biggest obstacle remains Leipzig. They have a reputation for driving hard bargains and there is no guarantee a deal will be completed quickly. Even so, the reported willingness to increase Liverpool’s offer to around €115 million shows serious commitment.
Fans should remain cautious until multiple reliable sources confirm the agreement. Transfer stories can move quickly and circumstances often change. However, if Liverpool have already convinced the player, that is usually one of the most difficult parts of any elite level transfer.
For now, optimism feels justified. Diomande looks like a player capable of becoming one of the faces of Liverpool’s next era, and supporters will hope the club can now finish the job and bring one of Europe’s most exciting young stars to Anfield.
