Liverpool’s summer transfer activity has reached a significant milestone, with sales surpassing the £200m threshold following the departure of winger Doak to Bournemouth. The deal, worth £25m, continues a trend of notable exits from Anfield during this window and further underlines the club’s approach to balancing investment with sustainability.
Bournemouth moved decisively to secure Doak, inserting him as a replacement for Dango Ouattara, who completed a £42m switch to Brentford earlier in the summer. The 18-year-old arrives in Dorset after attracting interest from a range of clubs across Europe and the Premier League, including Porto, Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Wolves and West Ham.
Liverpool ensured a buyback clause was included in the transfer agreement, a strategy already used this summer in the deal that saw Jarell Quansah join Bayer Leverkusen. The clause safeguards the option of returning the Scotland international to Merseyside in future seasons should circumstances align.
Doak’s move comes after a promising year in which he demonstrated his potential during a loan stint with Middlesbrough. The winger earned widespread praise for his pace and direct attacking play in the Championship, complementing his six senior caps for Scotland.
Though his first-team involvement at Liverpool was limited – just three league appearances, all from the bench, and 10 outings in total – his development trajectory has been steep. Bournemouth believe they have invested in a player capable of making an immediate impact while also offering long-term value.

Doak is the latest in a long list of players to depart Anfield in recent months. Sales of Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, Tyler Morton, Nat Phillips and Quansah mean Liverpool’s confirmed income from transfers now stands at £206m, with the potential to rise to £227m once add-ons are factored in.
This significant turnover highlights both the depth of change within Arne Slot’s squad and the financial strength that such sales provide. For context, Liverpool’s outlay on incoming signings this summer has already exceeded £300m, with the club continuing to reshape the squad around the new head coach’s vision.
Despite heavy expenditure, Liverpool remain active in the market. Slot is intent on adding another attacking option before the window closes, though the path to that signing has not been straightforward. A £110m offer for Newcastle forward Alexander Isak was rejected last month, leaving the champions exploring alternatives.
With the Premier League season already underway, the balance between integrating new arrivals and maintaining competitive momentum will be closely watched. Liverpool’s ability to reinvest intelligently after surpassing the £200m mark in sales could prove decisive in shaping their defence of the title.
