Man City are reportedly ready to rival Barcelona to trigger the €25 million release clause of Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter Milan are considering the possibility that they could lose Denzel Dumfries this summer.

The Nerazzurri will not lose the Dutchman for free. He signed a contract extension last year.

However, that new deal includes a release clause of €25 million.

Moreover, Inter are aware that Dumfries is not altogether happy with the harsh words from Inter captain Lautaro Martinez earlier this week.

Then, there is the fact that Dumfries has changed his agent to Jorge Mendes. That could very well be a signal of intent to leave the club this summer.

Inter Milan are waiting to see if any clubs move in for Dumfries.

The fact that the 29-year-old’s release clause expires on the 15th of this month means that if anything is top happen, it has to happen soon.

Barcelona have been at the centre of the most persistent transfer rumours concerning Dumfries.

However, the Catalans are not the only club eyeing up a move for the Dutchman.

The Gazzetta report that Barcelona’s former coach Pep Guardiola could try to get his hands on Dumfries.

Manchester City are still looking for a right-back. That is one position they have not touched amid some fairly extensive summer squad surgery.

City had been linked with Juventus’s Andrea Cambiaso in January. Meanwhile, this summer they are reportedly targeting Newcastle United and England defender Tino Livramento.

However, the Gazzetta reports, City are also considering the opportunity to sign Dumfries without worry – no negotiations, just pay the release clause and go.
