Milan are reportedly trying to hijack Nottingham Forest’s bid for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, who had already been a target for Juventus.

The centre-forward has made it clear he wishes to move on from Palace in the January transfer window and has no shortage of clubs ready to pick him up.

According to Belgian transfer pundit Sacha Tavolieri, Milan are confident they can win the race over the next few days and surprise Nottingham Forest, who were the favourites.

Juventus turned their focus over to other targets, but Mateta had bean a primary candidate for their attack earlier this month.

It remains to be seen how Milan are supposed to win this race, considering Crystal Palace seemed ready to reject a proposal worth €40m from Nottingham Forest.

His contract with Palace only runs to June 2027 and an extension seems improbable at this point.

The Rossoneri are seeking new striker options during the injury lay-off of Santiago Gimenez, with Christopher Nkunku struggling to live up to expectations.
