Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has held a dinner meeting in Milan with Massimiliano Allegri, with the Partenopei making a direct approach for the coach as they look to fill the void left by Antonio Conte’s expected departure, according to Calciomercato.it.
The meeting is understood to have been facilitated by the pair’s shared history at Juventus, where the two men developed a close working relationship.
Aurelio De Laurentiis has long been an admirer of Allegri, the six-time Serie A title winner came close to joining Napoli on at least two previous occasions, most recently last summer before Conte decided to remain and Milan moved quickly.

The approach comes at a particularly delicate moment at Milan, where CEO Giorgio Furlani’s expected exit has created fresh uncertainty around the club’s entire leadership structure.
While the chaos at the Rossoneri could push Allegri towards the exit, his position has also strengthened in recent days, his contract runs until 2027 and would extend automatically to 2028 should Milan secure Champions League qualification on Sunday.
Should Allegri choose to leave, Napoli would be ready to move immediately.
However, the Italy national team job, with Roberto Mancini reportedly the favourite, is also understood to be of significant personal interest to the Tuscan coach, and may sit above all other options in his order of preference should he decide to walk away from club management for now.
