According to a recent update from SER (h/t Fichajes), it has come to light that the relationship between Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid is not as smooth as it appears on the surface.

While both players maintain a professional front in public, reports suggest that their understanding on the pitch is far from ideal.

This lack of cohesion is beginning to affect the team’s overall performance, contributing to their struggles in La Liga.

Problems at Real Madrid

Real Madrid have recently lost their position at the top of the table, and while several factors have played a role in this, one of the most pressing concerns is the disconnect between their two star forwards.

Rather than complementing each other’s strengths, Vinicius and Mbappe seem to be operating as individuals rather than a cohesive attacking unit.

Their reluctance to involve one another in key attacking moves was evident in the match against Rayo Vallecano, where both players appeared more focused on asserting their own influence rather than working together.

The Brazilian reportedly feels that his importance within the squad has diminished, and his current contract does not reflect the club’s new wage structure.

Meanwhile, interest from Saudi Arabia has added further complexity to the situation.

With an enormous financial offer on the table, Vinicius is now considering his future, especially if he cannot secure a salary that matches or at least comes close to what Mbappe is earning.

Ancelotti’s attempts

Carlo Ancelotti has made several attempts to find a tactical balance that accommodates both players effectively, but so far, none of his strategies have worked as intended.

Initially, he shifted Vinicius into a more central role, but that experiment did not yield the desired results. When he later placed Mbappe in that position instead, the adjustment still failed to bring out the best in either of them.

The ongoing struggle to integrate both players into a fluid system is now becoming a major concern for Real Madrid.

If this situation remains unresolved, it could have serious consequences for the team’s title ambitions and even impact the long-term futures of both players at the club.
