Sandro Tonali isn’t pleased with his status at Newcastle since returning to action after a lengthy betting ban, so much so that he may consider leaving the Premier League giants in the near future, with Milan potentially interested in his comeback.

The midfielder returned available in late August after enduring a year-long ban due to illegal gambling practices, but the limited playing time coach Eddie Howe has given him in recent months has been clashing with his relevant role in Luciano Spalletti’s Italy national team, sparking his discontent.

Tonali considers future away from Newcastle amid Milan links

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tonali currently feels his long-term future may be elsewhere, with the Rossoneri being included in his suitors’ list for obvious reasons – the 24-year-old is a renowned Milan supporter and the fanbase would be thrilled to welcome him back at the Stadio San Siro.

However, Newcastle’s €60m investment to secure his services back in 2022, which could get to around €70m with add-ons, makes the prospect of an imminent sale to Serie A unlikely unless the club decide to either sell him to a Premier League side or loan him out, with Inter and Juventus also interested in the latter case.

Tonali remained on the pitch for 90 minutes in five out of six of Italy’s Nations League outings since returning from his ban, proving his worth wasn’t affected by the months on the sidelines.

However, that was not enough to persuade Howe to make him a regular starter, as he came off the bench in seven of his 13 Premier League appearances this term.
