Vincenzo Italiano is on AC Milan’s list of potential candidates to become the next head coach, according to a report.
The Bologna edition of La Repubblica (via MilanNews) writes that after the incredible journey to the Champions League places last season, Italiano’s Bologna are proving to be one of the most solid teams in Serie A.
Compared to a year ago, the team has just one point less in the standings despite having fought on three fronts (including the Coppa Italia, which they are still in) and losing two crucial players like Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Calafiori.
At the beginning of the season the target might not have been as high as what the Rossoblu are actually achieving. Italiano’s work is not going unnoticed, but he seems to be perfectly in symbiosis with the city and with the management, who are plotting a contract renewal.
In the summer Italiano signed an agreement until 2026 at €2.1m net per year, leaving Fiorentina, and Bologna would like to extend it for another year. The goal of the directors and CEO (Sartori, Di Vaio and Fenucci) is to try to act in advance given.
Why is that? Mainly because Italiano will inevitably end up in the sights of several big clubs looking for a new manager, and they mention Milan above all if they were to say goodbye to Sergio Conceicao.
