Despite a contract renewal just a few months earlier, Leandro Paredes left Roma in July.
The midfielder, now at Boca Juniors, decided to leave the team after being rejected by Gian Piero Gasperini, who decided not to invest in him from the start.
According to Filippo Biafora of Il Tempo, the coach didn’t consider Paredes a player suited to his pace of play.
This decision prompted the player to accept the Xeneizes’ offer, thus returning home and closing a chapter in his career.
However, some Roma fans have raised controversy on social media, particularly regarding Bryan Cristante. Comments like “Wouldn’t Paredes have been better?” have fueled the debate about the Giallorossi midfield and the coach’s technical decisions.
Paredes, meanwhile, has quickly become the leader of the Argentine club’s midfield, which sits in third place in the league, two points behind the leaders.
In addition to the former Giallorossi midfielder, Paulo Dybala could soon join him in his homeland, leaving Roma after four seasons.
