Inter Milan have set their sights on former Juventus and AC Milan coach Max Allegri in the event that Simone Inzaghi departs.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInter1908. They report that the 57-year-old would be the top target as an emergency replacement.
Inter Milan are certainly planning to continue with Simone Inzaghi as their coach for some time.
The Nerazzurri are aiming to extend the 48-year-old’s contract. And club President Beppe Marotta called a new deal “just a formality.”
However, nothing is ever certain in football.
And there is no doubt that Inzaghi’s successful work as Inter coach has won him no shortage of suitors.
If an offer arrives that does tempt Inzaghi away, Inter would be left scrambling to replace the former Lazio coach.
But according to the Corriere della Sera, Nerazzurri President Marotta would turn to a trusted former ally in the event that he needs to find a new coach.

Max Allegri is certainly a familiar name in Serie A.
The 57-year-old has won numerous trophies with AC Milan and Juventus, across two separate spells.
It was Marotta who first brought Max Allegri to the Bianconeri in 2014.
And the Inter President continues to hold Allegri’s work in high regard.
Moreover, Allegri would be able to maintain a 3-5-2 formation if he were to take over. That would be important for maintaining continuity in the event of a shock Inzaghi departure.
Therefore, reports the Corriere della Sera, Allegri’s name would be at the top of Marotta’s list.
