Inter Milan will complete the signing of defender Tomas Palacios from Independiente Rivadivia early this coming week.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that the deal for the 21-year-old will be worth €6.5 million plus add-ons.

Now it is only a matter of time. Inter have everything in place to sign 21-year-old Argentina Under-20 international Palacios.

Palacios is the player who Inter have settled on as their defensive reinforcement for the summer transfer window.

There had been plenty of profiles that the Nerazzurri had considered.

There had been the idea of an experienced stopgap solution on a free transfer. The Berazzyrri considered the likes of Ricardo Rodriguez and Mario Hermoso.

Then, Inter had reportedly been on the verge of a deal for defender Juan Cabal before he instead joined Juventus.

Meanwhile the likes of Zenit St. Petersburg’s Robert Renan, Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior, and Genoa’s Johan Vazquez have also been on the Nerazzurri’s radar.

More recently, links have emerged to Nantes defender Nathan Zeze, Dinamo Zagreb defender Mauro Perkovic, and Valencia defender Yarek Gasiorowski.

However, after considering all these potential targets, Palacios is the player Inter have decided upon.

Inter Milan To Seal Tomas Palacios Signing Early This Week

Palacios is a player who checks all of the boxes that Inter have been looking for.

The Argentine is a left-footed defender, and has experience playing on the left of a back three.

That means that Palacios should be able to get up to speed as Alessandro Bastoni’s deputy in Inter’s defense.

And Palacios is 21 years of age. This means that he is right in the age profile sought by Inter owners Oaktree Capital, who want to emphasize building around younger players.

Inter have been negotiating in the last week and change to get a deal done for Palacios.

And Tuttosport report that now it’s just a matter of time.

Palacios should be in Milan in the next day or two. The medicals and contract signing should come early this coming week.

Inter will pay an initial fee of €6.5 million to sign Palacios. Then there will be a total of €4.5 million in add-ons in the deal, some easy to trigger and others less so.
