RFEF probes Barcelona approach in Julián Álvarez case | OneFootball

According to La Colina De Nervion, the RFEF has opened an extraordinary disciplinary procedure after Atlético de Madrid’s complaint. It will examine whether Barcelona merely pursued a transfer or influenced Julián Álvarez to seek a break from a deal running to 2030.

Barcelona has been notified and can respond. The step proves no breach and does not block any future transfer.

Álvarez signed a six-season Atlético deal in August 2024, running until 2030. That sits inside the protected period in transfer rules, which matters if a contract is broken without cause or a third party induces it.

The chronology of contacts, what Atlético’s hierarchy knew and any link to the player’s later public stance may prove decisive. The complaint remains confidential and there is no ruling yet on Barcelona’s conduct.

On one July Joan Laporta said Barcelona had made a firm bid and that Deco had long known Álvarez wanted to play at Camp Nou. On 19 July he described the proposal as very important and said it would expire at month end.

Laporta also stated that Álvarez wanted to join Barcelona and argued against keeping unwilling players. On 17 July Miguel Ángel Gil Marín said Atlético would not sell, rejecting 100 million euros and adding that 150 or 200 would not alter the stance.

During the World Cup Álvarez said he had spoken with Atlético and believed a transfer was the best way to achieve his dream. That view strengthened Barcelona’s interest but did not change his contract.
