Rising Serbian attacking prospect Jovan Milosevic set to join Werder Bremen on loan | OneFootball

Kicker reports that Stuttgart attacking Jovan Milosevic is set to be loaned out to Werder Bremen. In what amounts to a very surprising twist in the ongoing saga of the 20-year-old, the young Serbian international will attempt to transfer some of the legitimate momentum he accrued in his native country to the Bundesliga. After a highly successful loan stint, Milosevic is eager to prove himself at the next level. 

Milosevic recently returned to Stuttgart from a year-long loan stint with Partizan Belgrade. Partizan maintained the right to acquire Milosevic permanently via a €5m purchase option. Had Milosevic not done so well during his loan out and raised his estimated market value from €1m to €7m in the last six months, Stuttgart probably would have allowed him to depart. 

Instead, Milosevic’s Bundesliga club wishes to further his development and see how far the once-capped Serbian international can progress. Milosevic scored an incredible 12 goals in the 17 games during the first half of the Serbian SuperLiga campaign with Partizan. 

Milosevic seeks to buck the Werder Bremen loan curse

Many potential-laden attackers have been loaned out to Werder Bremen in recent years, only to prove complete flops in the Hanseatic city state. Former Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface counts as the latest example. Though Werder officially denies that Boniface won’t be deliberately swept out of the spotlight with season-ending knee surgery, it very much to be the case that the latest Werder flop has little choice given of his current situation.

The fact that players like Boniface, Maximilian Philipp, André Silva, and Rafael Santos Borré have seen their careers take a serious nosedive during Werder loan stints may have influenced German American striker Damion Downs’ decision to reject Bremen’s interest and opt to join Hamburg on loan this week. Werder’s Naby Keïta fiasco also isn’t forgotten.

Milosevic hopes to be Werder’s most successful attacking loan out in quite some time.
