Robinho Jr. has reversed his brief switch to “Juninho” on his Santos shirt and will again use his father’s name.
According to Globo.com, he briefly used “Juninho” for a friendly appearance. In that game against União São João, the 18-year-old set up João Ananias and scored his first Santos goal from a penalty.
“Juninho” was the name he carried through the club’s academy. After stepping up to the senior side, he adopted “Robinho Jr.” as a tribute to his father, Robinho, a Santos idol.
At CT Rei Pelé he is still called Juninho day to day, and the identity switch coincided with that standout display.
The squad for the 19th round meeting with Botafogo already lists the forward as “Robinho Jr.”.
In April he agreed a new contract with Santos, running until March 2031.
