Rodri named best player: the World Cup 2026 award winners | OneFootball

Rodri has been named the Best Player at the 2026 World Cup after playing a starring role in Spain's triumphant campaign.

The midfielder was one of Spain's standout performers throughout the tournament, featuring in every match and playing 726 minutes. He was only substituted twice, against Cape Verde in the group stage and Argentina in the final, underlining his importance to Luis de la Fuente's side.

The award adds to an already impressive collection of honours for the Spain captain. Rodri was also named Player of the Tournament at Euro 2024, which Spain won, before claiming the Ballon d'Or later that year.

Spain also swept the tournament's other major individual awards. Defender Pau Cubarsi was named Best Young Player after an outstanding breakthrough tournament, while goalkeeper Unai Simón collected the Golden Glove following a superb campaign between the posts.

Both players were instrumental in Spain's success, helping the newly crowned world champions concede just one goal across eight matches on their way to lifting the trophy.
