Los Blancos prepared to tempt Spaniard homewards
Rodri wants to leave Manchester City this summer, with Real Madrid preparing to lodge a bid for the player.
The Spaniard is fresh off the back of a fine summer, in which he captained Spain to a second World Cup title and won the Golden Ball in doing s.
His performances at the tournament seem to have been impressive enough that they have lured Real into the transfer market.
To date this summer, the club were adamant they were not willing to sign Rodri. Since the World Cup’s conclusion, though, they have performed a U-turn and are now preparing an offer for City.
While no talks have yet taken place between the clubs, Los Blancos are confident they will be able to reach an agreement for the player’s transfer and are preparing for the coming season under the assumption he will join up.
And as Real’s interest proliferates, Rodri has decided he is keen to make the move. A Madrid native, the 30-year-old believes the move would be suitable for both his career and family reasons.

The fact Rodri is due to undergo a back surgery this summer which could rule him out for months does not appear to have deterred Real.
Rodri is entering the final year of his City contract, and the club is expected to enter talks over an extension this summer.
He has made no secret of his desire to return to Spain one day, saying in March: “Would I like to play in Spain again, in La Liga, in Madrid? I would like to return, yes, obviously.
“Having played for Atletico before would not prevent me from playing for Real Madrid … there are other players who have done that before. Maybe not direct transfers, but eventually. You can’t turn down one of the world’s best clubs.”
Speaking at his Man City unveiling on Friday, Enzo Maresca seemed confortable regarding Rodri’s uncertain situation.
"We have to say that around big players there are always speculation. I'm not worried about that, it's normal,” he said.
“They won the World Cup and he was one of the best players. Every manager wants to have Rodri, but now surgery. He needs to rest and recover, and then he will be back here with us.”
