Rodrigo Garro strike lifts Corinthians to fifth after 1-0 at Athletico-PR | OneFootball

Corinthians beat Athletico-PR 1-0 in their rescheduled round two match on Thursday, Rodrigo Garro scoring the winner to lift them to fifth with six points after three rounds.

According to Meu Timao, Corinthians edge Red Bull Bragantino and Athletico-PR on goal difference. All clubs have now played three matches.

Palmeiras, São Paulo, Fluminense and Bahia each have seven points from two wins and a draw. If the season ended today, Corinthians would take the only Pre-Libertadores spot, with the other now allocated to the Copa do Brasil runners-up.

The Parque São Jorge side also have the league’s joint-best defence, with two goals conceded, a mark shared with five other clubs.

Corinthians visit Cruzeiro in the league at the Mineirão on Wednesday at 20:00. Before then, they face Portuguesa in a Paulistão quarter-final at Canindé on Sunday at 20:30.
