Rodrigo Riquelme signs for Real Betis

Former Bournemouth forward Rodrigo Riquelme has left Atlético Madrid after 15 years to join Real Betis for the 2025/26 season.

As confirmed by his new club Betis, Riquelme has signed a contract valid for the next five seasons - until June 2030.

Having progressed through the youth ranks of the Colchoneros, the 25-year-old midfielder moving to the English south coast for a season-long loan at Bournemouth in 2020/21 before gaining further loan experience with Mirandés and Girona in Spain. He later returned to Atletico and established himself in the main squad under Diego Simeone: making 73 appearances for the Madrid club over the past two seasons across all competitions.

Last season, specifically, Riquelme played 26 matches for Atleti, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
