Rodrygo has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, ending his season with Real Madrid and ruling him out of the 2026 World Cup with Brazil.

A few hours after the diagnosis became public on Tuesday evening, the 25-year-old winger addressed the news on Instagram to his 23 million followers. The player said in a post that he had always feared such an injury and that the day ranked among the worst of his life.

He reflected that life had felt a little cruel lately and wondered whether he even deserved this, while adding he could hardly complain after so many wonderful moments.

The setback will keep him from what he loves for a while and a dream has slipped away, one everyone knows matters to him.

Despite the difficulty, he vowed to stay strong and not stop here, believing he still has much to experience and to offer those who believe in him. He framed it as only a temporary goodbye.
