Roma and Everton Could Put Together Swap of Strikers | OneFootball

Roma haven’t given up on Joshua Zirkzee but are kicking the tires on other center-forwards. Manchester United prefer waiting and will only sell him for a hefty sum.

The Giallorossi are examining a swap between Norberto Beto and Artem Dovbyk with Everton, which are also owned by the Friedkin group, Matteo Moretto reports (via SOSFanta). The Ukrainian marksman was open to moving to Milan in the summer, but Santiago Gimenez nixed the proposed trade.

It remains to be seen whether the Ukrainian talisman will sign off on the destination. If the deal went through, it wouldn’t be a simple exchange of loans. Roma and the Toffees would have to work out the numbers.

The former Udinese man headed to the Premier League in 2023. He has notched 17 goals in 89 games since moving to Liverpool. He’s rarely been a fixture of the formation. He surpassed the double-digit threshold in scoring in his two Serie A campaigns.

The Giallorossi have also been offered Jeff Ekhator by his agent, Sky reports. The 19-year-old already has 39 appearances with the first team under his belt, although mostly off the bench. He has hit the net three times.

Our Take on Roma and Beto

It’s not a great sign that the chatter about other options intensified after direct talks for Zirkzee. While they could certainly use an upgrade, they aren’t necessarily in dire straits. Evan Ferguson has done better lately, Dovbyk is about to return, and they have barely utilized Paulo Dybala in recent games. They can wait a couple of weeks into the window before pivoting. They have been attached to a few deals with their sister club, but none have come together so far, as they’d face heavy scrutiny.
