Roma are in pursuit of their next head coach who will replace Claudio Ranieri at the end of the season.

According to Il Romanista, Gasperini’s name has returned to the top of the list.

The Atalanta coach was among the first to be contacted by Ranieri, in an initial exploratory inquiry.

But the decisive step, writes the news portal, came recently, when sporting director Florent Ghisolfi had a more in-depth meeting with the coach.

It was not just an informal contact, but a real technical discussion on future prospects.

Gasperini currently represents one of the most concrete options for the Roma bench, even if the final decision has not yet been made.

The sticking point remains the contract with Atalanta, which expires in 2026.

However, in recent days Gasperini himself has hinted that he is ready to evaluate an early farewell, and president Percassi has made it known that, in the event of a separation, the club would not oppose it.
