The Ivorian defender will formally return to Bayer Leverkusen from July 1, but his future is still to be written.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, contacts between the German club and the Bergamaschi remain active with the objective of making the defender’s stay at Atalanta permanent.

Kossounou, despite several physical stops during the season, has convinced with reliability and versatility, while Gasperini would be ready to welcome him back to the new Roma.

However, la Dea, now entrusted to Ivan Juric, have not yet raised the white flag.

Roma, therefore, will have to face Italian competition to secure the 24-year-old central defender.
