Roma has given the green light to sell Manu Koné by June 30th.
The French midfielder is a strong candidate for being sacrificed on the altar of capital gains to comply with the settlement agreement.
Behind the financial reasons, according to Corriere dello Sport, there are also some misunderstandings with Gasperini.
Before the derby, the 2001-born player experienced a muscle problem and preferred not to push himself. Perhaps he’s been thinking too much about the World Cup, something Gasperini may have noticed.
In Italy, the club most interested in Manu Koné is Inter.
Their courtship began last summer, when the Nerazzurri presented an offer of €35 million plus bonuses, a deal that fell through.
Now Marotta and his teammates could make another move for the French midfielder. The prospect of a new offer from Inter for Koné is gaining momentum. The first question to ask is: how much does Roma value the player?
There’s talk of no less than €40 million, or perhaps a figure closer to €50 million, potentially including bonuses.
It remains to be seen whether the gap that stalled the deal a year ago remains, or whether there have been developments. Koné is the ideal candidate for Chivu, and developments are expected in the coming days.
