Serie A side Juventus have attempted to move for Roma’s Mile Svilar and it seems like their attempt has already been rejected.

Various sections of the Italian press reported about Juve’s talks for the keeper. Il Messaggero have gone into some details.

The Roman outlet report that after initial discussions between Juve and Roma, the Bianconeri made a formal offer for the Serbian. They put forward €42m plus bonuses of €8m and this would have allowed Roma to settle their accounts with UEFA by the 30th of June.

Despite that, the bid was rejected as Roma didn’t want to strengthen a direct rival. They will play in the Champions League and the Friedkin ownership see Svilar as a key part of the project and the amount offered didn’t match how value the keeper is to the Roman side.

Roma very brave

Despite FFP demands, Roma have managed to stand firm and that is very brave of them. It shows ambition and the Friedkin ownership did the same last summer when Inter came calling for Manu Kone.

It is easy to question whether the offer was really made or not too, as Juve usually do not offer significant upfront fees like the report has mentioned.
