After a deal failed to materialise in the January window, Barcelona are hoping to add Marcus Rashford to their ranks over the summer.
The on-loan Manchester United star faces a hugely uncertain future heading into the window, with there now being only one month remaining on his loan agreement with Aston Villa.
Unai Emery and the Villa board do have the option of signing Rashford permanently next month for a fee of £40 million. However, they are not obliged to, and the player will also have to green light the move, which may depend on whether they secure Champions League qualification.

It’s thought Rashford may have already played his last game of 2024/2025 due to an injury he sustained in the build-up to Villa’s FA Cup semi-final.
There is an outside chance he returns in time to face Tottenham Hotspur at home this Friday evening in the side’s penultimate fixture, before Villa round off their campaign against his parent club at Old Trafford on May 25. From there, we can only speculate over what the future holds for the forward.
If it weren’t for Barcelona’s ever-precarious financial situation, there’s a chance Rashford would’ve spent the second half of the term with the Spanish giants, who are now on the cusp of claiming the La Liga title following a 4-3 triumph over arch-rivals Real Madrid on Sunday.
Fabrizio Romano claims (via GiveMeSport) the Blaugrana are ‘keen’ on hashing out a deal for the England international, with his ‘versatility’ one of the factors driving their interest. Whether United would stick to their £40m valuation or increase the price tag due to his impressive form for the Villans remains to be seen.
The Metro adds that Rashford would be willing to take a pay-cut from his lucrative £350,000-a-week wages in order to join Hansi Flick’s squad in the coming months.
